As of the 1st January 2014, the Register of Aquatic Professionals (RAPs) will implement new standards. The pre-requisite for advancement to the Level 2 Certificate in Teaching Aquatics (QCF) will be a Level 1 qualification or equivalent. If there is an equivalent proposed then this will be examined, mapped and managed by the RAPs Compliance Team to ensure credibility for the pre-requisite standard.
RAPs has developed these criteria with industry (ASA, RLSS UK and the STA) and they have been mapped to the National Occupational Standards (NOS).
RAPS was created by SkillsActive to provide a system of profession regulation to ensure that individuals working in the aquatic industry meet agreed professional standards. SkillsActive, in consultation with ASA, RLSS UK and the STA have developed the Single Qualification Framework (SQF) which provides the qualification levels and standards required.
